Here, we will discuss the overall project. What type of project, budget, and an overall timeline. We will discuss our scope of work, design proposal, fee structure, and upon agreement we will begin the design process.

This is the fun part! The client will provide sdh Designs with a “wish list” for their new project. This list should include the number of rooms desired, any layout specifications, other structures that are wanted on the property, and any remaining requirements for the project.

The client can also share any mood boards, Pinterest boards, or images in general to convey their inspiration for the new project.

In addition to this, the sdh Design team will take a look at the general topography of the property, existing adjacencies and check for any zoning requirements that apply to the overall design of the project.

We will design floor plans and exterior elevations for the clients to review and approve. The drawings will show how the new design will sit on the property and view how it will look with all other property components and structures.

Design development happens after preliminary designs are approved. We will start on construction documents, which includes all interior elevations of millwork, cabinetry, all exterior materials and finishes, windows and door schedules, building sections, electrical receptacle locations, switching and lighting design.

Using the drawings from the Design Development stage, our design team will begin to layer interior elevations, details, and additional specifications and information to the construction documents.

After the client approves everything, we will assist the client in selecting a general contractor.

Once construction commences, sdh Designs will stay in contact with the general contractor and check in on the project site periodically to ensure construction is following our plans accordingly.
